Thank you, Idie for this beautiful portrait of Ida! She was sixteen in this photo, which would put the year at about 1924 (if the info on ancestry.com is correct). What a lovely lady.
Finger waves were all the rage at that time, and not so easy to create! Check out the diagram below. Click on "comments" above to add your thoughts and/or memories!

This photograph is so rich in details. The knickers. The pinstripe sailor outfit complete with embroidered anchor. The slightly dusty flower stand. Most of all, the look of patience and restraint in Anthony's eyes (maybe a wee bit of annoyance?). I can't imagine how long he had to stand there to pose for this photo - and at five years old! I believe it is the only professional portrait I have of any of the brothers and sisters at such a young age. Does anyone have other young photograph portraits of the brothers and sisters? Please let me know!

HELP! Does anyone know who these people are? The wedding photo below is full of interesting faces, has an elaborate back drop, and looks to me like it was taken in the 20's. Underneath that is another mystery wedding, and then a family portrait which (although damaged) is also very compelling. Click on "comments" above to add your thoughts and/or memories! This is a very special group of photographs. They are special not only because they are great shots, but because Ida wrote a detailed message on the back of each one to Armand. It's likely that he received these in a letter while he was training or at war, though unfortunately there is no date on the back. Can anyone take a guess at when these were taken? These photos, and her funny candid comments must have meant a lot to him. Enjoy! Click on "comments" above to add your thoughts and/or memories! |
