Armand is a little harder to identify in this photo, he's standing off to the right side and his face is mostly hidden by his helmet. Today, Mourne Country Park in Northern Ireland is a peaceful retreat for nature lovers. Here's a chronology of the Army in Northern Ireland, if you are interested. It was here that Armand trained for invasion of North Africa.

This is a single photo of Hugo, perhaps one he sent to Armand while they were both away training, or fighting. He's holding an M1 Garrand rifle .30 caliber - it was standard issue at the time (thanks Bob!) I bet Hugo dug his own foxhole with that shovel (see an example of a WW2 foxhole diagram below).
