Another really cool shot of Edmund. Sitting on the side of a plane, the photo taken from below. This photo was likely taken by his partner-in-crime Teddy Wiesenthal, pictured in the next photo posing with a huge pipe hanging out of his mouth.

As Armand writes; "These pictures were taken shortly after the invasion of Africa 11-8-42". On 8 November 1942 the U.S. Navy put U.S. Army forces ashore near Casablanca, while the British Navy put other United States forces and contingents of British troops ashore near Oran and Algiers. The total invasion force comprised more than 400 ships, 1,000 planes, and some 107,000 men. Click here if you'd like to read more about the North African Campaign Armand was a part of. His "Arab Pal" (whose name was Habib) sitting next to him in the picture sent him a beautifully written letter after the war that I will post next week. Stay tuned! This man looks like he is a Santomasso, but there is no information on the back and the photographs are just blurry enough that I can't seem to identify him. He seems to have a similar facial structure to Hugo, but I can't say for sure who it might be. Can someone help?

Looks like Jail in El Centro is pretty sweet, wine bottle and gin & tonic included. This might have been that day off Edmund mentioned in his letter home, perhaps the reason why he never made it to get on the "program" in L.A. that Olga liked so much. Seems like it was time well spent, I think Jackie would agree... Click on "comments" above to add your thoughts and/or memories! |
